Long PDFs are rarely useful as one block. A 90-page tender pack contains three sections that go to three different people; a scanned bundle from an office printer holds five unrelated contracts; a bank statement covers twelve months when your accountant asked for one. Splitting solves all of these without printing or retyping anything. The split tool on PDF Guru opens your file in the browser, shows every page as a thumbnail, and lets you decide where each new document should begin and end.

You can work two ways. Choose fixed ranges - pages 1-12, 13-40, 41-90 - and get one PDF per range, or split every page into its own file when you need each invoice separately. Page order, text selection, embedded fonts, links and form fields are preserved: the output pages are the original pages, not screenshots of them. Nothing is re-encoded, so a split file looks exactly like the section it came from and stays just as searchable.

How to use Split PDF online

  1. 1

    Add your PDF

Drag the document into the upload area or pick it from your device. Files up to 100 MB open directly in the browser, including scans and files with hundreds of pages.

  2. 2

    Mark where to cut

Type page ranges such as 1-3, 4-9, 10 into the range field, or switch to single-page mode to turn every page into its own separate PDF.

  3. 3

    Check the thumbnails

Scroll through the page previews and confirm each range starts and ends where you expect - a common slip is forgetting a cover page or a blank separator sheet.

  4. 4

    Split and download

Press split and save the result. A single range downloads as one PDF; several ranges arrive as a ZIP archive with one file per range.

When people use this tool

Send only the relevant chapter

Legal and tender documents often mix confidential annexes with public sections. Splitting lets you forward pages 45-60 to a supplier without exposing pricing that sits on page 12.

Break up a batch scan

Office scanners produce one long file from a whole stack of paper. Split it into individual receipts, contracts or delivery notes so each document can be filed under its own name.

Trim what you upload

Portals frequently cap uploads at a handful of pages or a few megabytes. Extracting the two pages a form actually asks for is faster than compressing a 200-page report.

Split study material

Turn a full textbook PDF into per-chapter files so a tablet opens them instantly and your notes stay attached to the right section.

What you get

Ranges and single pages in one place

Cut a file at three points or explode it into every individual page without switching tools or settings screens.

Original quality kept intact

Pages are copied, not rendered, so text stays selectable, images keep their resolution and file size stays proportional to what you kept.

Visual page picker

Thumbnails make it obvious which page number holds which content - useful in scans where page numbering on paper does not match the file.

Private by design

The split happens in your browser session and the document is not kept on our servers after you download the result.
